Kx Gives Back: 2022 Children’s National Race for Every Child
Kx Gives Back: 2022 Children’s National Race for Every Child
Last month, Kx Advisors was thrilled to partner with the Children’s National Hospital for the 10th annual Race for Every Child as part of the joint efforts of our wellness and giving committees. Kx’s participation is a reflection of our commitment to our core values while building the health of our surrounding community in Washington, D.C., showcasing what we value most.
Children’s National Race for Every Child
The Children’s National Race for Every Child is a charity 5k walk / run dedicated to bringing together the Washington metropolitan community for a major fundraiser of the Children’s National Hospital. Specialized children’s hospitals have become an increasingly important part of pediatric care, showing greater development in research specialized multidisciplinary approaches for childcare compared to pediatric departments in general hospitals.[1] More importantly, in the US, 50% of all care provided in children’s hospitals goes to disadvantaged children, with 6% requiring ongoing care for medically complex, long-term conditions.[2]
Given this importance, the Kx Advisors team was excited to help fundraise for the Children’s National Hospital, which not only provides specialized pediatric care but conducts cutting-edge research in areas such as cancer and blood disorders, cardiology, neonatology, and neurology, changing the lives of children and their families. The annual Race for Every Child also gives participants a chance to connect with their community, promote awareness for pediatric conditions, and get some sunshine and exercise in the process. Kx has participated in this event since 2016 and was excited to take part once again for its first return to in-person following the pandemic.
Collaboration Champions Causes
Thirteen Kx employees joined the race team from across the globe, enlisting the support of their local community to contribute to a good cause and raise awareness for pediatric medical care. Through the collaboration between the Kx Giving Committee and Kx Wellness Committee, team members raised funds using social media posts, emails, and personal appeals in addition to a match contributed by Kx Advisors.
Through the tireless efforts of team members across the company and their family and friends, the Kx team raised over $1,600 in support of Children’s National, contributing to the $1,533,871 raised by all 297 teams and over 3,500 individuals participating in the race!
Kx Races to the Finish
In addition to spreading awareness and reaching our fundraising goal, thirteen Kx employees joined the 5k race, with seven joining in person and other remote employees having the chance to join virtually. A Kx employee even brought their family to participate in the race, which was very fitting given how many happy families were in attendance. On the day of, the team met on a beautiful fall morning to warm up, learn more about the impact of Children’s National, and get excited to run. Upbeat music played as adults and children of all ages pumped themselves up for the run.
One of this year’s event coordinators and active member of the Giving Committee, Sr. Associate Iman Omer said of participating, “The Kx team loved joining all the other attendees in supporting specialized pediatric care. This initiative was particularly special as not only does it align with Kx’s passion for giving back and contributing to pediatric research, but it also gave us an opportunity to engage in some outdoor movement with our fellow employees – contributing to our commitment to encourage physical / mental wellness among our team members. It was especially meaningful to have employees bring their families to the race, with one of our team members pushing a baby stroller for the 5k walk! Overall, seeing children of all ages joyfully participating and empowered to spread awareness about pediatric conditions was special.”
Kx is proud to contribute to the Children’s National Hospital fundraising, and we are grateful for the opportunity to support the health of the children in our communities and connect with our neighbors and the Washington, D.C. community through this meaningful event.
Both Kx Committees are continuing to ramp up efforts to round out the year with even more impactful events. Stay tuned for more updates and the latest activities from our Kx-perts and committee leaders!
